Senior Investment Executive, Takura Capital Partners, Zimbabwe

Takura Capital Partners (“Takura”) is a Zimbabwe based private equity fund management firm investing in growing companies, mainly in Zimbabwe and to a lesser extent in the SADC region. Takura has made considerable progress towards fundraising for its second fund, targeting total commitments of US$50 million. Takura’s focus sectors include agro-processing, FMCG, health and pharmaceuticals, mining services and ICT. Takura is a 10 year closed end fund, and aims to raise a larger regional successor fund after most of the investee companies of the second fund have been realised.


An exciting opportunity based in Harare, Zimbabwe, has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced person to assume the role of Senior Investment Executive within Takura. 

The successful candidate must be a driven team player who is also dynamic, assertive and results oriented.

 The candidates must also:

  • have strong leadership qualities
  • have strong communication skills, in particular the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, investee company promoters, and other stakeholders
  • be flexible and adaptable to the fast-paced business environment

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Investment Executive will be responsible for executing the investment strategy of Takura and will report directly to the Managing Partner. 

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Deal origination
  • Investment analysis and appraisal
  • Conducting due diligences and producing the necessary reports
  • Structuring and negotiating deals, both at entry and exit
  • Preparing Investment Committee papers and presenting the same to the Investment Committee
  • Monitoring investments via Board seats and investee reports
  • Drawing up investment agreements, including investment offer letters, share sale and purchase agreements, share subscription agreements, loan agreements and other relevant deal specific agreements


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must have:

  • A good first degree in  a recognisable field;
  • extensive years’ experience in private equity, preferably including Africa. The experience must cover a full deal cycle, from origination to exit, with a demonstrable track record over a minimum of at least 5 years

Senior Program Manager/Senior Faculty Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, Accra, Ghana

MEST Senior Faculty members are carefully selected for their track record in developing commercial software and entrepreneurship, as well as their interest and passion for sharing that experience with others. Senior Faculty should have several years of practical industry experience in careers ranging from international consulting firms to Silicon Valley start-ups to some of the largest and most admired software companies around the world.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field, or in Business or Entrepreneurship (Master's or Ph.D. a plus)
  • 10 or more years of technology/business working experience; 5 or more years of developing or managing Web development and/or mobile projects using recent technologies
  • Hands-on programming experience and familiarity with several programming languages, open source software, databases and Web architecture
  • Broad knowledge of SDLC and proven track record of successfully delivering software projects
  • Excellent business knowledge, ranging from principles of management to writing business plans

  • Develop future software entrepreneurs from Ghana, and act as a positive role model where excellent management and mentoring skills are crucial
  • Motivate and inspire small teams of EITs to complete software development projects by creating a positive and dynamic learning environment
  • Manage a small staff of teaching assistants, who will assist in delivering lecture and lab material
  • Develop and manage a business and technology curriculum that includes current trends and best practices in software development and elements required for a comprehensive business plan
  • Coach EITs in developing their critical-thinking abilities and strengthening their interpersonal and communication skills
  • Create and deliver lectures; think out-of-the box and be creative in ways to effectively teach software development using interactive methods that will encourage independent thinking
  • Analyze project deliverables, conduct performance evaluations and give constructive feedback
  • Introduce trainees to the latest business practices in the global market

d.o.b foundation is looking for a full-time entrepreneurial Chief Investment Officer who will build and grow our investment portfolio of impact generating small and medium enterprises in Africa.

We are:

d.o.b seeks to recruit a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) As Chief Investment Officer you are responsible for the development and management of our investment portfolio in East Africa. As Chief Investment Officer you:

  • lead the investment process (identification, due diligence, negotiation and closing of deals) for the expansion of the portfolio
  • oversee d.o.b’s investment portfolio with attention to its financial and impact performance
  • represent d.o.b in boards or supervisory boards of the portfolio companies
  • lead and coach the investment managers in their portfolio development and management activities

You are:

A senior private equity expert with extensive hands-on experience with private equity investments in Africa. You have a large, relevant network in (East) Africa and the aspiration to be responsible for making private equity work for African based small and medium enterprises that create an impact.

You have built financial models, done valuations and led due diligence processes for a wide range of investments in African SMEs. You have excellent coaching skills and like to work in a small team of professionals. You have a finance MBA and at least 10 years experience in private equity in Africa. You have strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English and preferably French and/or Swahili
