During the last five years the African Venture Capital Association (AVCA) has successfully organized five well attended conferences on Venture Capital Issues and Private Equity Financing in Africa , with the support of FMO, the Netherlands Development Finance Institution as lead sponsors.

The first conference took place in October 2000 in Tunisia , the second conference took place in Cape Town , South Africa in November 2001, the third conference took place in Yaoundé , Cameroon , the fourth conference took place in Marrakech , Morocco and the fifth conference took place in Mombasa , Kenya in 2005.

During these important occasions, a number of African and international speakers, organisations and venture capital practitioners participated building a strong network of venture capital and private equity managers in Africa.

The success of these five events has motivated AVCA and our sponsors to organise a 6th AVCA Annual Venture Capital Conference to build on the momentum from the previous conferences.
